Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) delegations carried out a series of collaborative meetings with Japanese partner institutions during October 22nd-23rd, 2018. The representatives were comprised of Dr Arif Satria – IPB Rector, Prof M A Chozin – Chairman of IPB Board of Trustee and Dr Sintho W Ardie – Deputy Director for International Program Service at IPB Directorate of International Program. Following the arrival in in Tokyo on October 22nd, 2018, the reception was started off by meeting in Embassy of Republic of Indonesia in Tokyo with the Vice Ambassador – Mochamad Abas Ridwan and the Educational Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Japan– Dr. Alinda F. M. Zain. The discussion emphasized the importance of higher education’s role in strengthening Japan-Indonesia relation, particularly in fisheries and agriculture area. During gift exchange session, Dr. Arif Satria received a t-shirt to commemorate 60 years of Indonesia-Japan’s relation from The Embassy, whilst IPB handed the delegation the IPB promotion kit.

In the wake of the visit to Embassy of Republic of Indonesia in Tokyo on October 22nd, 2018, delegations proceeded towards the Tokyo University of Agriculture (TUA/Tokyo NODAI). The agenda of signing ceremony for renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TUA/Tokyo NODAI and IPB took place in President’s Room, 9th Floor, Academia Center, Tokyo NODAI, Tokyo, Japan. TUA/Tokyo NODAI was represented by Dr. Katsumi TAKANO – President of TUA/Tokyo NODAI, Dr. Yoichi SAKATA – TUA/Tokyo NODAI Director of Center for International Programs, Dr. Kojiro SUZUKI – Deputy Director of TUA/Tokyo NODAI Center for International Programs, Mr. Yasuyuki ASANO – Chief Officer of TUA/Tokyo NODAI Office of President, Mr. Koichi YOSHINO – Chief Officer of TUA/Tokyo NODAI Center for International Programs, Ms. Naho GOTO – Assistant Chief Officer of TUA/Tokyo NODAI Center for International Programs. The occasion was first of all addressed by Dr. Katsumi TAKANO and then continued by remarks by Dr Arif Satria. The subsequent session was introduction of the entirety of attendants, before the main subject matter of the day namely signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. Prior to the end of ceremony, gifts were exchanged between the attendants. IPB proposed to be the host of the 20 International Student Summit at 2020 and it was welcomed by TUA. The invited parties also during the occasion agreed to elevate the collaboration to the next level, not only in academic but also in research. IPB delegation also took the opportunity to meet IPB students currently having their program in TUA.
